Investigative Services
The most serious criminal offences in York Region are investigated by the experienced members of Investigative Services under the leadership of Superintendent Wayne Kalinski and Inspector Gerry Milne of the
Major Crimes Bureau, Inspector Richard Crabtree of the Organized Crime Bureau and Inspector Kevin Torrie who runs the Special Investigations and Support Bureau.
The Major Crimes Bureau includes the Homicide, Sexual Assault, Crimes Against Children and Major Case Management Units.
The Organized Crime Bureau includes the Drugs and Vice, Special Services and Intelligence Units, as well as the Guns and Gangs Enforcement Branch.
Special Investigations and Support Bureau includes Auto/Cargo Theft, Forensic Identification, Hold-Up, Major Fraud, Polygraph and High-Risk Offenders Units. The Archaeological Recovery, Technical Data and Video Support branches fall under the Forensic Identification Unit.
