It's official.
The ground has been broken for a $30 million York Regional Police training facility in East Gwillimbury.
Regional Chair Wayne Emmerson, Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Chair of the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board Frank Scarpitti, Chief Eric Jolliffe and East Gwillimbury Mayor Hackson put shovels in the ground at the building site on June 19.
The impressive new facility will include a firing range, areas for defensive tactics and fitness and classrooms. It will be a LEED silver building encompassing roughly 73,000 square feet.
The new facility will be designed to deliver first-class training that will benefit YRP members and our service to the community.
Construction is expected to be completed in December 2016.
