SUSPECTS SOUGHT AFTER TOW TRUCK SET ABLAZE IN MARKHAM

Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking suspects and appealing for witnesses following a tow truck fire in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 12:44 a.m., police were called to a residence on Williamson Road for a report of a tow truck on fire. When officers arrived on scene, they found the truck fully engulfed in flames. Markham Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

The truck was unoccupied at the time and there was no structural damage to the residence. There were no injuries.

Video from the area shows a four-door sedan park in front of the residence and the suspect exit the passenger side. The suspect walks up to the tow truck and pours what appears to be accelerant over it and sets it ablaze. The suspect returns to the sedan and leaves the area.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity, or anyone with a video recording that captured any suspicious activity in the area, to please come forward.
