Constables Sa Jiang, Ali Lalani, Amaree Watkiss and Mason Zhou were honoured with a 2015 Human Rights Race Relations Gold Medal Award for their outstanding contributions to humanities and public service to the community. The award recognizes those who have made significant long-term contributions to the ethnic press and ethnic communities.
On Friday, September 18, 2015, Chief Eric Jolliffe received the prestigious Officer of the Order of Merit from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. The Officer of the Order of Merit recognizes outstanding meritorious service in duties of responsibility over an extended period, usually at the regional or provincial level.
An outstanding year for United Way donations paved the way for a recognition ceremony on January 22. York Regional Police, in partnership with the Region of York, received the Leadership Giving Spirit Award, the Community Spirit Award and the Campaign Spirit Award. The 2014 campaign raised $445,000 for roughly 30 United Way agencies across York Region, including Victim Services of York Region, Yellow Brick House, York Region Food Network and 360° Kids.
