25 Years of Tradition

Vienna. Beijing. New York. Paris. Sound like a bucket list?

The York Regional Police Pipe and Drum Band can cross these cities off their list, as it has represented the police service globally for the past 25 years. Proudly sporting Sir John A. MacDonald tartan in memory of Canada's first prime minister, the band fields both a parade and concert band as well as a Grade Four competition band under the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario.

The York Regional Pipe and Drum Band is committed to longstanding community and global presence. Its members, currently consisting of 19 pipers and drummers, in addition to dancers, vocalists and pipers/drummers, support various cultural events, parades, fundraisers and official police functions each year and have dedicated themselves to improving musically through competition and collaboration with a Highland Dance troupe and partnering musicians. They are capable of captivating audiences in the tens or in the thousands, in York Region or around the globe and have recently made forays into competition at local Highland Games events.

Under the leadership of Chief Eric Jolliffe and Pipe Major Peter Fleming the band balances community service with their passion for promoting and excelling at traditional Scottish song and dance.
