The York Regional Police Services Board is a civilian board overseeing York Regional Police. Four board members are appointed by the Regional Municipality of York Regional Council and three by the Province of Ontario.
Under Ontario's Police Services Act, the board must ensure that effective and efficient police services are provided to the nearly 1.2 million people living in the increasingly diverse and rapidly growing Regional Municipality of York.
As civilian representatives of the public's interests, the Police Services Board is committed to excellence in community-based policing and police governance. The board recognizes challenges to law enforcement created by a changing environment, demographic shifts, emerging technologies and evolving crime trends and patterns.
With the support of the citizens in York Region, the Police Services Board is confident of meeting future policing challenges in the years ahead.
York Regional Police members present on a variety of topics to members of the board and a public audience at meetings throughout the year. Visit the Police Services Board website to see a schedule of upcoming meetings, or view archived presentations.
