When it comes to ending youth violence, York Regional Police wants to hear your victory song. We want to hear your voices over violence.

Contest Details

Are you a talented musician, 24 years old or younger, living in York Region? Dust off that guitar, tighten up those drum skins or grab that mic - we want to hear you perform an original song on the theme of ending youth violence. 

Extended deadline: Original song entires must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Entries must not exceed four minutes in length. 

The top 12 contestants will be selected to perform their original song at a Voices Over Violence event at Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill on Friday, October 20, 2017.

Prizes

Cosmo Music is the proud sponsor of the Voices Over Violence music contest and will award prizes to the top three performers:

  • First Place: $500 Cosmo Music gift card
  • Second Place: $300 Cosmo Music gift card
  • Third Place: $200 Cosmo Music gift card 

Contest Rules and Release and Application Form

All contestants entering the Voices Over Violence music contest should review the Contest Rules before creating and submitting their short film. Contestants under the age of 18 must have their parents or guardians sign the Contest Release and Application Form and the signed form must be included in their film submission package. 

Submission

Contestants must submit their original song by email to endyouthviolence@yrp.ca, by standard mail or in person. Contestants submitting their hard copy entries should send their submission package to:
