Eliminate Racing Activity on Streets Everywhere

Since 1999, 48 people have been killed in Ontario as a result of street racing activities. In addition, excessive speed continues to be the leading contributing factor in fatal collisions. Project E.R.A.S.E. is a result of the collaborative effort of 22 police services, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of the Environment.

The goal of E.R.A.S.E. Program is:

"To change poor driver behaviour through education and strategic enforcement."

Street racing is an illegal and dangerous activity jeopardizing the lives of innocent people like:

  • Andrea Pike, a 29 year-old mother of two, was tragically killed by a street racer on May 30, 2000.
  • Tahir Khan, a 46 year-old father and taxi driver, who was killed by two street racers on January 24, 2006.
  • David Virgoe, a 48-year-old professional truck driver and grandfather, was killed by three street racers who forced him off the road on June 18, 2007.
