This program is designed to eliminate the risk of personal injury from improperly stored firearms, to reduce the number of illegal or unwanted firearms and firearm-related crimes in York Region and to ensure anyone storing legal firearms is doing so in a safe and secure manner.

Surrender Unwanted Firearm(s)- Select this link to request an officer to attend your residence or place of business to retrieve unwanted firearms, ammunition and/or military ordinance. This service provides citizens with a safe way to dispose of firearms they may have inherited or found or old weaponry that has been kept as a collectors’ item. Turning these items over to police for safe disposal increases community safety by eliminating the risk they will be stolen and used in a crime or cause accidental harm to yourself or others.
