Special Event and Mascot Volunteers

Special Event and Mascot Volunteers can be found at York Regional Police sponsored events throughout the Region, complimenting the services offered by our Sworn and Civilian members in order to provide a positive experience for everyone involved.  As part of the York Regional Police team, Special Event Volunteers are often the first point of contact at community events and initiatives, thus having a chance to interact with members of the public and officers who attend.

Special Event Volunteers assist at events held at the Community Safety Village of York Region, Police District Headquarters and various community centres and parks throughout York Region. Although no two events are identical, common responsibilities include event set-up and take-down, registration, working with Officers or Auxiliaries to provide Crime Prevention tips, administration duties, and various other community-oriented tasks.

York Regional Police has three mascots which attend community and school events throughout the Region. Morris the Moose, Bucky the Beaver and Bobby the Bear greet and entertain people of all ages. These furry friends are accompanied by a mascot escort wherever they go.

The Special Event program is ideal for people who want a flexible volunteer schedule, as volunteers sign up for events that fit their schedule. All Volunteers are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours per year, and these can be done when you have time in your busy schedule.
