YRP is celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week from April 11 to 15 and there’s no better time to show your appreciation to our call-takers and dispatchers. Created in 1981, it’s an opportunity to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. It is a week that is set aside to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.
They are the invisible “first” First Responders, the lifeline between someone who needs help and those who provide it. It takes a special kind of person to work in the Communication Unit. They need to be the ultimate multi-tasker, interpreting the callers’ needs, communicating with officers and making split second decisions.
They spend as much time with their co-workers as they do with family, miss out on family events and holidays and are sometimes on the end of some very stressful calls.
Through it all, they are here because they want to help others, so please take a moment this week to post a thank you to our call-takers and dispatchers on our social media channels and we’ll be happy to pass it along to them.
