UPDATE: WANTED MAN IN CUSTODY FACING CHARGES IN CONNECTION WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT INVESTIGATION

York Regional Police have arrested and charged a 54-year-old man who was wanted on a warrant in connection with a sexual assault and forcible confinement investigation. 

On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at approximately 4:20 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Major Mackenzie Drive West and Dufferin Street in the City of Vaughan, after a concerned citizen reported that a woman ran in front of his vehicle asking for help.

Investigators learned that the victim had met the suspect at a bar in the Fort Erie area on February 8, 2020. She was taken to a hotel in Fort Erie where she was held against her will for several days. She reported that the suspect drove her to a wooded area off of Dufferin Street, near Teston Road, where she was able to get away and flag down a vehicle for help. The victim reported that she had been assaulted and sexually assaulted multiple times between February 8, 2020 and February 19, 2020. She was taken to hospital as a result of the incidents.

On Monday, March 23, 2020, at 5:30 p.m., the accused was arrested in the City of Richmond Hill. He is now facing several charges in connection with the incident.  

Investigators are asking any additional victims, witnesses, and anyone with information about the accused to please come forward.
