York Regional Police have laid multiple charges against a 24-year-old man from Richmond Hill in connection with multiple collisions in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, November 21, 2019, at approximately 2 a.m., police responded to the intersection of Yonge Street and Arnold Crescent in the city of Richmond Hill after multiple calls came in about a blue pickup truck driving on Yonge Street, hitting light poles and medians.

Police arrived on scene and located the blue Ford F150 pickup truck up on curb on Yonge Street. The vehicle was severely damaged and the driver had fled the scene.

Officers learned that the driver got into the vehicle in the parking lot of 10711 Yonge Street and began driving around the parking lot and collided with five parked, unoccupied vehicles.

The vehicle exited the parking lot and began driving up and down Yonge Street where it collided with a traffic light, a street sign and a light pole before coming to a stop.

The driver fled the scene on foot, but was located and arrested by Canine unit officers.

Yonge Street remains closed from Major Mackenzie Drive to Crosby Avenue for repairs to the lights posts and power lines.

Fortunately, no one was physically injured during the incident.
