Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 27-year-old cleaner who was stealing jewelry from her client’s home.

The investigation began in November 2018, when a victim came forward to report that jewelry had been stolen from their home in the City of Vaughan. The victim had hired the accused through a cleaning service. Investigators believe that during a cleaning in early October 2018, the accused stole more than $25,000 worth of jewelry.

As the investigation progressed, the accused was found to be responsible for thefts of jewelry from other clients’ homes in York Region and the City of Toronto.

On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, the accused was placed under arrest without incident in the City of Toronto and has since been charged. Investigators are releasing an image of the accused as they believe that there may be additional victims.

The accused has been released on bail and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on February 7, 2019.
