Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision involving a cyclist in the City of Markham.

On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Elgin Mills Road and Kennedy Road for a report that a cyclist had been struck.  The cyclist was travelling eastbound on Elgin Mills Road, east of Kennedy Road, when he was struck by a vehicle travelling in the same direction. 

The cyclist, a 47-year-old man from Markham, was transported to hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.  Anyone who may have been in the area, any time before 5:30 p.m. and saw the cyclist, should call police.
