York Regional Police has charged seven people, including two police officers, following a complex, 10-month investigation into corrupt practices.

In January 2018, York Regional Police commenced an investigation into allegations that Constable Richard SENIOR, 44, of Markham may be engaging in criminal activity. The investigation revealed the officer was involved in a number of criminal enterprises, including the attempted armed robbery of a quantity of cocaine; the theft and illegal possession of a York Regional Police shotgun; the trafficking of steroids to another officer; trafficking cocaine; interfering in the prosecution of provincial offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act; and the disclosing of confidential police information. He faces 30 criminal charges, which are included in the attached charge list.

Constable Timur TIMERBULATOV, 36, of Whitchurch-Stouffville, has been charged with Breach of Trust and the Unauthorized Use of a Computer not for a police purpose.  

Five others have been charged in connection with this investigation.

Constable SENIOR has been a member of York Regional Police for 14 years. He has worked in uniform patrol in Markham and most recently worked in the #5 District Community Oriented Response Unit.

Constable SENIOR was held in custody. His next court date in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket is Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He will be suspended with pay should he be released. 

Constable TIMERBULATOV has been a member since 2015 in #5 District uniform patrol. He has been suspended with pay.

“This is unacceptable criminal behavior that will not be tolerated by members of our organization. It is not a reflection on the dedicated, hard-working and extremely professional York Regional Police members working together each and every day to keep our community safe,” said Chief Jolliffe. “This was a difficult investigation, however, we are committed to upholding our values of integrity and accountability.”

The investigation is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
