SUSPECTS SOUGHT AFTER SHOTS FIRED AT RICHMOND HILL MOTEL

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking two suspects after gun shots were fired at a motel in the Town of Richmond Hill.

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a motel located at 8700 Yonge Street following a report of two men running from a motel room, one of them armed with a handgun. When police arrived they saw two men who ran from officers. With the assistance of the Canine Unit, officers later located a man in a field in the area of Yonge Street and Westwood Lane. He was placed under arrest without further incident and has been charged with Failing to Comply With Recognizance. It is still unclear if this man was connected to the shooting.

The ongoing investigation has revealed that there was an altercation in one of the motel rooms. During the altercation one of the men involved took out a handgun and a shot was fired. No one was injured.

The two suspects are described as:

  • Male, black
  • 5’10”
  • Wearing dark clothing
  • Armed with a handgun
