Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in two sexual assaults that took place in the Town of Richmond Hill.

On Saturday, March 18, 2017, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a 31-year-old woman was shopping at a clothing store located on Yonge Street south of Elgin Mills Road.  While the victim was looking at items, an unknown man walked behind her and brushed against her buttocks. The victim ignored the incident and continued shopping. Several moments later the suspect came up behind the victim again and grabbed her buttocks. The victim turned and yelled at the suspect and he left the store.

While investigating, officers discovered that while the suspect was in the store, an 18-year old female employee was also sexually assaulted by the suspect in the same way.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, Asian
  • 25 to 35 years
  • Medium build
  • Short, black spiked hair
  • Acne-marked complexion
  • Wearing black rimmed glasses,a black Canada Goose jacket with fur on the hood, dark jeans and dark colored shoes

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.  If someone is not ready to report, however is seeking support, please contact the Women’s Support Network or York Region Victim Services Additional resources and information can also be found on our website
