Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses after a suspicious fire at a residence in the City of Markham.

On Friday, August 10, 2018, at approximately 11 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Black Cherry Drive, which is in the area of Raymerville Drive and McCowan Road, for a fire.

Fortunately the homeowner was able to safety exit the residence and there were no injuries.

Investigators have obtained video surveillance which shows a lone male suspect who lit a vehicle in the driveway on fire. The fire then spread to the residence.

Officers have conducted a lengthy and thorough investigation and are now asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any additional video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways around the house at the time of the incident.
