MAN WANTED IN ONGOING HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION

Investigators with the York Regional Police Human Trafficking Team are seeking public assistance for information on the whereabouts of a man wanted in an ongoing human trafficking investigation.

On Tuesday, August 8, 2017, shortly after 1 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a hotel in the City of Markham for a report of a 20-year-old female that had been assaulted by a man. Investigators have determined that the victim had been working in the sex trade, held against her will and assaulted by the suspect.

Investigators are seeking public assistance for information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

Wanted:

  • Baldwin JUNIUS,30, City of Mississauga
 

Charges:

  • Trafficking in Persons
  • Kidnapping
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Assault
  • Material Benefit Resulting from Trafficking in Persons
  • Material Benefit from Sexual Services
  • Procuring/ Exercising Control

Members of the HumanTrafficking Team are continuing their responsive and pro active efforts in combating human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women and underage girls. In many cases, victims involved in prostitution are forced into the sex trade through violence, threats of violence, coercion and trickery. York Regional Police is committed to investigating all incidents relating to human trafficking and providing assistance to victims. Investigators are willing to speak with anyone involved in the sex trade who may be looking for a way out or who may require assistance to escape these dangerous circumstances.
