An officer speaks to a young boy in a parking lot

Youth Engagement officers build relationships between York Regional Police and the region's youth through officers working and liaising with school administration.

The bureau includes School Resource Officers, that work solely with high school students, and Youth Education Officers that deliver the Values, Influences and Peers (VIP) program to elementary school students.

School Resource Officers act as a valuable connection between the police and students throughout the region, helping with investigations at the high school level and guiding teens at exciting seminars and workshops. Members of the Youth Engagement Bureau also help to organize and orchestrate programs like youth camps at the Community Safety Village, photography club and many more exciting initiatives.
