Located within Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area in Whitchurch-Stouffville, the Community Safety Village is an interactive, educational facility where children learn about fire, traffic and personal safety.
Visits to the village are booked through York Region schools but the public is encouraged to join us during the many special events we hold throughout the year.
The village features a 10,000 square foot learning centre with both police education and fire education classrooms, complete with working traffic lights and signals and a fully equipped apartment where students learn to plan and execute a safe escape in case of an emergency.
The grounds contain a miniature village featuring over 30 scaled-down buildings, roadways, operational traffic lights, signs and a railway crossing. Children have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the rules of the road through the use of bicycles, battery-operated mini-cars and a walking tour of the village.
NEW! The Kindergarten Program has TWO interactive 60-70 minute lessons designed for JK and SK students. To book, click on the link For Teachers.
