Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing 60-year-old man from the City of Markham.
Abdool HAMID was last seen on Monday, April 28, 2025, around 8 a.m. at his residence in the area of Denison Street and Elson Street. He has not been seen since.
Abdool is known to travel on foot and by bus and frequents the area of Markham Road and Steeles Avenue East.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have charged a man with murder in relation to a 2023 homicide in the City of Vaughan.
On September 1, 2023, at 2:25 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a call for an injured person at a residence in the area of Laskin Drive near Ilan Ramon Boulevard. Attending officers found a deceased male inside the house with a significant head injury. The death was deemed to be a homicide.

On April 26, 2025, the same male suspect robbed two convenience stores in Newmarket. Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau Major Case Team have arrested a man after a 2024 shooting in the City of Vaughan.
On June 1, 2024, police were called to an industrial yard in the area of Highway 27 and Highway 407 for a weapons call. The complainant arrived at work and found the windows of the main door shattered. Multiple vehicles within the lot also appeared to have been struck by bullets.
