The Hold-Up Unit
The 17 members of the Hold-Up Unit are responsible for investigating robberies when violence is used or includes the use of knives or firearms. Their duties include the detection of suspects, gathering of evidence against them, surveillance and ultimately the execution of search warrants and arrest of these dangerous individuals. They also spend a great deal of their time guiding and comforting victims through the recollection of events and the difficult court process.
In 2011 the Hold Up Unit had a successful conclusion to Project Amenaza, which investigated an organized crime group of robbers targeting person's engaged in the wholesale jewellery business. Project Amenaza was concluded in late 2011 with the arrest of four individuals.
