The Hold-Up Unit

Officer taking fingerprintsThe 15 members of the Hold-Up Unit investigated a total of 387 incidents in 2009, involving the robbery of financial institutions and commercial and retail premises, as well as home invasions and carjacking robberies including 148 where a knife or firearm was used.

Working in partnership with the Toronto Police Service and Crime Stoppers, members of the Hold-Up Unit arrested a suspect wanted for 13 bank robberies in York, Peel, Toronto and Caledon.

Members of the Hold-Up Unit also spent time in 2009 educating residents on crime prevention.
