Suspect for Identification following Assault in Newmarket

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are appealing for witnesses to help identify a suspect following an Assault with a Weapon in the Town of Newmarket.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the victim was riding her bike on a trail in the area of Timothy Street and Prospect Street. As she was passing the suspect, he pointed an airhorn near her ear and discharged it, causing injury to the victim.

The victims sought medical treatment for non-life-threating injuries.

Investigators are aware that many pedestrians were present in the park at the time of the incident. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is urged to come forward.

Suspect:

  • Male, White, 6’2”
  • Approximately 40 years old
  • Brown and grey hair
  • Medium build
  • Last seen wearing a green hat, a black t-shirt with a motorcycle logo, grey shorts and black shoes
