NINE INCIDENTS OF SPEED ENFORCEMENT CAMERAS DAMAGED IN VAUGHAN

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses after nine incidents of damaged automated speed enforcement cameras in the City of Vaughan.

Between January 11, 2025, and April 24, 2025, police responded to nine instances of mischief to property involving speed enforcement cameras at three separate locations across the city.

Investigators have charged one suspect in relation to one incident but are continuing to appeal for witnesses in relation the following open investigations:

  • Peter Rupert Avenue on January 11, 2025 at approximately 2:10 a.m.
  • Peter Rupert Avenue on January 27, 2025 at an unknown time.
  • Peter Rupert Avenue on February 3, 2025 at approximately 11:20 p.m.
  • Hilda Avenue on February 5, 2025 at approximately 10:20 p.m.
  • New Westminster Drive on February 5, 2025 at approximately 10:30 p.m.
  • Peter Rupert Avenue on February 15, 2025 at approximately 12:50 a.m.
  • Peter Rupert Avenue on April 18, 2025, at approximately 10:20 p.m.
  • Hilda Avenue on April 24, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the areas. Anyone with information is asked to come forward. Investigators would also like to speak to anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area around the time of the incidents.
