Appeal for Witnesses After Vehicle Set Ablaze and Shot in Vaughan

Investigators from the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are appealing for witnesses and suspect information after a vehicle was deliberately set on fire and shot at in the City of Vaughan.

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, shortly before 7 a.m., a resident near Forest Heights Boulevard and Highway 27 reported observing someone set their vehicle on fire via home security cameras.

The fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread. No injuries were reported.

Surveillance footage from the area shows a grey 2022 Honda Civic with Ontario licence plate DFEA247 arriving in the area prior to the arson. A lone suspect was seen exiting the vehicle carrying a bag containing a jerry can and approaching the victim’s car. The suspect returns to his vehicle and fires several rounds in the direction of the vehicle before leaving the area.

Suspect 1:

  • Male, approximately 5’10” tall
  • Last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jogging pants, black running shoes with white soles and grey gloves

Suspect Vehicle:

  • Light blue 2022 Honda Civic
  • Ontario licence DFEA247

Investigators have learned the same vehicle was involved in a shooting in the Region of Peel Wednesday evening. It was also learned that the vehicle was reported stolen in the City of Toronto on September 17, 2025.

Police are treating this incident as targeted.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident or who may have information to please come forward.
