Warrant Issued for Sex Offender of a Minor

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit, Human Trafficking Section are seeking public assistance in locating a 27-year-old man wanted soliciting sex with a minor.

On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the suspect had attended an address in the area of Don Mills Road and Parkway Forest Drive, in the City of Toronto, and engaged in sexual activity with the victim, who was under the age of 18 years. He was also charged with failing to comply with a previous release order.

The suspect was placed on a GPS ankle monitor device.

On Friday, May 23, 2025, the suspect was found guilty of Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration Under 18 and Fail to Comply with a Judicial Release Order.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, while awaiting sentencing, the suspect cut off his ankle monitor device.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025 and sentenced in absentia to five years in prison.

Chengyuan Chad LI, 27, of the City of Markham, is now wanted. Police have been unable to locate him and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Investigators are releasing his image and are appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.

  • Fail to Comply with a Judicial Release Order
  • Mischief Under $5000

The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to him may be subject to criminal charges.
