Firearm Recovered During Stolen Vehicle Investigation

York Regional Police has seized a loaded firearm, recovered a stolen vehicle and charged two suspects with multiple offences after a suspicious vehicle investigation in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, August 15, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle in a plaza in the area of Highway 7 West and Keele Street. Officers arrived on scene and identified the vehicle as being reported stolen out of Toronto, on August 12, 2025. The suspect vehicle intentionally struck the police cruiser before attempting to flee the scene.

Two suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle and were taken into custody a short distance away while attempting to flee in a ride share. A search of the suspects resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm and a key for the stolen vehicle.

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a Prohibited Weapons
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Fail to Stop after Accident
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • A 17-year-old male, of the City of Toronto     
  •  Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

At the time of the offence, SYED was on an undertaking for an unrelated offence.
