Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged a man in connection with multiple robberies in the Town of Newmarket.
On April 26, 2025, the same male suspect robbed two convenience stores in Newmarket. At 1:40 a.m., the suspect entered a store on Main Street near Davis Drive and threatened an employee with a hammer before fleeing with a quantity of cash and cigarettes. Later that morning, around 9 a.m., the same suspect entered another store at Davis Drive and Bayview Avenue, this time armed with a knife, and demanded cash.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in either incident.
Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Shane DUNN, 50, of Newmarket. He was also wanted in connection with the April 5, 2025, robbery of a food delivery driver in Newmarket.
Investigators are releasing an image of DUNN as it’s believed he may be responsible for other robberies and are urging any witnesses or potential victims to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing.
