Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are appealing for witnesses following a bank robbery in the City of Markham.
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., police responded to a robbery at a bank in the area of Kennedy Road and Major Mackenzie Drive East. On scene, officers learned that a male suspect entered the bank and waited in line to speak with a teller. When he was called to a desk, the suspect made a demand for money and indicated that he was armed with a knife.
The suspect fled with a quantity of money and was last seen walking towards Kennedy Road.

- Male
- Asian
- 5’6” tall
- Wearing a black sweater, black pants, black head covering, blue surgical mask and reflective sunglasses
The bank is within a plaza with heavy foot traffic. Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen something suspicious, or to anyone with dashcam that was in the area between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., to come forward.
