Auxiliary constable minimum requirements

Applicants for the position of Auxiliary Constable must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered in the selection process:

  • Have proof of successful completion of four years of secondary school education or equivalency
  • Have no criminal record for which you have not received a pardon and be of good moral character and habits
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and at least 18-years-old
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard for his or her own safety and the safety of members of the public
  • Possess valid emergency or standard first-aid and CPR Level C certification, at minimum
  • Possess a valid Ontario driver's licence class G, at minimum

Auxiliary members are required to dedicate a minimum of 12 hours of active duty a month plus in-service training, meetings and yearly requalification.

Auxiliary members do not receive any payment or remuneration.

Auxiliary officers do not carry firearms, but they are fully trained in the use of firearms and therefore must qualify annually.
