Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a serious, single-vehicle collision in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

On Friday, June 11, 2021, at approximately 6:30 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Bathurst Street and Highway 11. When officers arrived, they found a red Kia Soul had rolled over and gone off the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle, a 67-year-old woman from Newmarket, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators believe the red Kia travelled northbound on Bathurst Street, from Vaughan to Newmarket, missing a tire and driving on a rim.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area, are being asked to please come forward.

York Regional Police is asking anyone with information to contact the Major Collision Investigation Unit by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7704, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at
