York Regional Police have charged a man after he was seen walking around a subway station with an air rifle in the City of Vaughan.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020 shortly after 2 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Vaughan Metropolitan Station located at 3150 Highway 7 West for a report of a man with an air rifle. When officers arrived, the suspect was attempting to enter a gate, but was being denied entry by TTC employees.

Officers found that the suspect was in possession of an air rifle and he was demanding to know why he was being denied entry. Officers explained the TTC bylaw that prohibits the possession of a firearm, airgun, air rifle, pellet guns or imitation firearms on their property. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was on court-ordered conditions not to be in possession of an air rifle. He was placed under arrest and has been charged.
