Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking a suspects and witnesses following a convenience store robbery in the City of Markham.
On Tuesday, January 13, 2021, just before 1 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a convenience store on Kennedy Road at Major Mackenzie Drive for a report of a robbery. Officers learned that a suspect forced entry into the store by smashing the glass in the front door. The suspect threatened the employee with a hammer and grabbed the cash register drawer, obtaining a quantity of cash before fleeing from the scene. Investigators believe there was a second suspect waiting outside in a getaway vehicle.
The suspect is described as male, white, approximately 5’6”, with a muscular build, wearing a mask and gloves.
The victim was not physically injured during the incident.
