Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit continue to seek witnesses following a fatal collision in the City of Vaughan.

On Thursday, July 9, 2020, at approximately 1:20 p.m., York Regional Police responded to reports of a collision that had occurred in the area of Keele Street, south of Rutherford Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a white Audi Q5 with two occupants had struck an adult female then went off the second floor of a parking structure.

The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity can not be confirmed until a post-mortem examination has been completed.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries where sadly he was pronounced deceased in hospital. He has since been identified as an 80-year-old man from the City of Brampton.

The passenger was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries where she remains and has been identified as a 70-year-old woman from the City of Pickering.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward. We would also like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle or has information on driving behaviors prior to the collision.
