York Regional Police has seized a firearm and laid numerous charges after a traffic stop in the City of Vaughan.

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, just after 9 p.m., an officer conducting general patrol in the area of Steeles Avenue and Pine Valley Drive stopped a vehicle to investigate after learning that the registered owner was wanted on a warrant. 

The driver was arrested and cannabis was located in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle further and located a rifle and ammunition.

  • Possession of a Firearm without a Licence
  • Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Transport Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner  
  • Have Care or Control of Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Fail to Comply with Judicial Release Order
