WITNESSES SOUGHT FOLLOWING POLICE-INVOLVED INCIDENT IN AURORA

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses in connection with a police-involved incident in the Town of Aurora.

On Thursday, October 7, 2021, at approximately 8:40 a.m., York Regional Police were called to the area of Mosley Street and Yonge Street for a suspicious person report.

Police located the 41-year-old male in the area and when the responding officer attempted to interact with him, the suspect attacked the officer. The incident escalated and the suspect fought the officer and grabbed at his firearm in an attempt to get it from the officer’s holster. This attempt was unsuccessful.

Officers were able to gain control of the suspect and apprehend him safely and nobody was seriously injured in the incident.

CHARGED:

  • Glenn MCLEAN, 41, no fixed address

CHARGES:

  • Assault With A Weapon
  • Assault Peace Officer
  • Assault With Intent To Resist Arrest
  • Disarming A Police Officer

 

Investigators continue to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward, as well as anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
