York Regional Police would like to thank the public and members of the media for their assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery at a dessert shop in the City of Markham.
On Monday, September 22, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a male suspect entered a dessert shop on Copper Creek Drive and demanded cash. The suspect threatened an employee with a wrench but was unable to steal any money, taking only a can of soda.
A passerby who entered the store to help the employee was assaulted by the suspect. Fortunately, she was not seriously injured.
Following media coverage of the incident, a member of the public recognized the suspect and contacted police. As a result, a male youth has been arrested and charged.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Markham where property related to the investigation was recovered.
