Responding to the impact of global events

York Regional Police has proactively increased patrols as our community manages the impact of global events and an escalation in conflict in the Middle East.

Residents can expect to see increased police presence across the region, including near faith-based institutions, community centres, schools and other public gathering places. This includes the deployment of a mobile command post in strategic locations over the coming days.

At this time, York Regional Police has no indication of a threat to our region. However, we will continue to assess and adjust operations as required.

If you witness, or have been the victim of hate crime or a hate or bias incident, we encourage you to report it to police immediately through 9-1-1 or by calling the non-emergency line at 1-866-876-5423.

Security Camera Registry

The Security Camera Registry gives members of the community the option to let York Regional Police know they have installed residential or commercial security cameras which may assist police if a crime occurs later in that area. It helps to expedite an investigation when officers are searching for available surveillance footage from a home or business.
