York Regional Police reminds business owners and employees to be alert at all times. Security systems, including alarms and video, should be installed, monitored and regularly maintained. At night, or when there are minimal staff or people around, or in businesses stocked with valuables, consider locking the doors and using a buzz-in system with a video-recorded entrance that has two-way voice communication to speak with customers before letting them in. If you don’t feel comfortable, trust your instincts. Contact the police promptly if you observe suspicious or criminal behavior.
