High School Co-op Placement Students

This is your time to participate in a truly rewarding co-op program.

We are proud to partner with the York Region District School Board and the York Region District Catholic School Board to provide a co-operative education experience for students with their sights set on a career in policing. Our program is a full-day, four-credit course hosted at the Community Safety Village of York Region in Stouffville, Ont.

Co-op students join the Community Safety Village team and help to teach children safety lessons and positive lifestyle choices. Co-op students will work with York Regional Police members and take part in special events at the village over the course of their semester.

Co-op hopefuls can visit their school's co-operative education office for more information or to apply. All applicants must complete an interview, background investigation, reference checks and a home visit before being placed.

Post-Secondary Field Placement Students

Much like the high school co-op placement, post-secondary placement students are selected from applicants who are enrolled in a policing-related program at local colleges and universities. Field Placement students are placed at the Community Safety Village (CSV) and Community Services office for one or two full days per week.

Students placed at the CSV, assist educators and staff in the classroom with program planning and daily education lessons. The placement student may also be assisting with special events that are held at the CSV and will be assigned special projects by the Supervisor of the Community Safety Village.

All applicants for the Field Placement program should contact their school's placement coordinator, or email csv@yrp.ca. All applicants must complete an interview, background investigation, reference checks and a home visit before being placed.

All students must ensure they have a reliable means of transportation to and from the Community Safety Village as there is no public transportation nearby.
