High school co-op placement students

This is your time to participate in a truly rewarding co-op program.

We are proud to partner with the York Region District School Board and the York Region District Catholic School Board to provide a co-operative education experience for students with their sights set on a career in policing. Our program is a full-day, four-credit course hosted at the Community Safety Village of York Region in Stouffville, Ont.

Co-op students join the Community Safety Village team and help to teach children safety lessons and positive lifestyle choices. Co-op students will work with York Regional Police members and take part in special events at the village over the course of their semester.

Co-op hopefuls can visit their school's co-operative education office for more information or to apply. All applicants must complete an interview, background investigation, reference checks and a home visit before being placed.

Post-secondary field placement students

Much like the high school co-op placement, post-secondary placement students are selected from applicants who are enrolled in a policing-related program at local colleges and universities. Field Placement students are placed at the CSV and Community Services office for one or two full days a week. Field placement students at the CSV assist police and fire educators in ensuring lessons can be carried out effectively. Students placed with Community Services will perform support duties.

All applicants for the Field Placement program should contact their school's placement coordinator, or email csv@yrp.ca. All applicants must complete an interview, background investigation, reference checks and a home visit before being placed.
