Since 1989, the York Regional Police Pipes and Drums have proudly represented York Region, its diverse communities and the police service both locally and internationally. We are committed to being a professional pipe band in everything we do, from simple street parades to playing for royalty.
The band strives to improve continually and while we welcome all ability levels, a minimum Grade 4 proficiency is both suggested and preferred. Once the volunteer application process has been completed, minimum attendance expectations and musical proficiency requirements are in place before any kit is issued.
The Pipes and Drums operate under the permission of Chief Jim MacSween and are currently under the musical direction of Pipe Major David Brown.
David started his piping career at the age of ten. In his early teens he joined the famous regiment of the 48th Highlanders of Canada Pipes and Drums. He has also served with the Ontario Provincial Police Pipe Band and was appointed as Pipe Major of the first ever Ontario Fire Fighters Memorial Pipes and Drums band.
