The Major Crimes bureau includes:
The Intimate Partner Violence Unit
The Intimate Partner Violence Unit is dedicated to investigating and responding to cases of abuse with a focus on victim safety, offender accountability, and coordinated community support. The unit works closely with specialized services and advocates to provide trauma-informed assistance, ensure thorough investigations, and help break the cycle of violence.
The Special Victims Unit
The Special Investigations Unit is responsible for handling complex and sensitive cases that require specialized expertise, including serious incidents involving police and matters of significant public interest. The unit conducts thorough, impartial investigations to ensure accountability, uphold the law, and maintain public confidence in policing.
The Counter Exploitation Unit
The Counter Exploitation Unit includes the Human Trafficking Unit and the Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
This unit focuses on identifying, investigating, and preventing crimes involving human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and related offenses, with an emphasis on protecting vulnerable individuals. The unit works collaboratively with community partners and specialized services to support victims, disrupt offenders, and promote long-term safety and recovery.

The Homicide Unit
The Homicide Unit is responsible for investigating suspicious deaths and homicides with a focus on uncovering the truth, supporting victims’ families, and bringing offenders to justice. The unit uses specialized investigative techniques and works closely with forensic experts and partner agencies to ensure thorough, professional, and timely investigations.
The Homicide Unit includes the following units:
- The Polygraph and Investigative Interview Unit
- The Cold Case Unit

Special Investigations and Support
Special Investigations and Support unit includes:
High Risk Offender
The High Risk Offender unit includes the Sex Offender Compliance Unit, the Parolee and Bail Unit and Mobile and Investigative Support.
The Technical Investigations Unit
This team includes the Cybercrime and Digital Forensics Units, the Forensic Video Analysis and Forensic Imaging Unit as well as the Archaeological Recovery Unit.
