York Regional Police to Roll Out Body-Worn Cameras
York Regional Police frontline officers will soon be equipped with body-worn cameras.
York Regional Police is announcing the rollout of body-worn cameras designed to enhance transparency and accountability, while supporting the safety of both community members and police officers.
The service is leveraging modern technology to increase transparency and help foster trust between the organization, its partner police agencies and the community it serves.
The cameras will also support fair and impartial policing.
The initiative follows the implementation of similar technology by several police services across Canada, including the Toronto Police Service, Peel Regional Police and Durham Regional Police.
More information about the body-worn camera rollout will be available later this summer.
