Leadership in Social Justice Achievement Award

This year, 12 awards ($500 each) will be presented to graduating Grade 12 students in York Region who have contributed to social justice, equity and human rights in their schools and communities.

Award recipients will be recognized at the York Regional Police International Human Rights Day Celebration on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

Eligibility

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Candidate must be a student attending a York Region School.
  2. Candidate must be graduating high school or equivalent in June 2022 and attending an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution (college or university) in September 2022/January 2023 on a full-time basis.
  3. Candidate must have demonstrated leadership towards the goals of equity, inclusion and social justice in one of the following areas: ability, age, culture, gender, gender identity, language, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status through community engagement or employment.
  4. Candidate must list any significant contributions made to the community throughout their years as a secondary school student.
