Zhu Xia Lin was the target. Yan Jun Liu and Yan Walter Xiao Chen Zhang were likely in the wrong place at the wrong time.

All three were shot and killed inside the Mirage Spa, a Markham massage parlour, just before 1 a.m. on February 8, 2004.

Their bodies were bound and wrapped in sheets from the spa and loaded into the back of Zhang's red Ford Explorer.

Police recovered the Explorer the following morning behind the Victoria Square United Church at Woodbine Avenue and Elgin Mills Road, just before discovering the bloody crime scene at the spa, located 7170 Warden Ave.

An investigation revealed that Lin, 40, was the manager of the Mirage Spa. Liu, 35, was her employee. Zhang, 40, was a friend of the two women. In the years since the triple murder, the York Regional Police Services Board has offered $50,000, $100,000 and $200,000 rewards for information leading to the identification of their murderer, but the suspect has never been identified.
