Quarter Two Priorities: Keeping Our Communities Safe and Secure

As we move into the second quarter of the year, members in #1 District remain focused on proactive, intelligence-led policing which addresses emerging risks while strengthening public trust.

This quarter, officers in #1 District are concentrating their efforts on three key priorities that directly impact community safety, crime prevention, and roadway security.

1. Tow Truck Enforcement and Education Initiative

This quarter, officers in #1 District are launching a district-wide tow truck enforcement and education initiative.

The approach combines enforcement and outreach. Officers will be actively monitoring compliance with regulations, addressing unlawful practices, and working alongside partners to ensure accountability. At the same time, we are engaging community members and industry stakeholders to promote transparency and awareness.

This initiative also includes a focus on bail enforcement and management, ensuring individuals released on conditions are complying with court-ordered requirements.

2. Organized Retail Theft Investigations and Enforcement

Organized retail theft continues to impact businesses, employees, and consumers across our communities.

This quarter, #1 District members are intensifying investigative efforts to identify and disrupt these organized activities. Our teams are leveraging intelligence, surveillance, and partnerships with retailers to build strong cases and hold offenders accountable.

3. Road Safety and RIDE Enforcement

Road safety remains a cornerstone of our policing strategy. This quarter, we are placing a heightened emphasis on impaired driving enforcement through the Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program.

Officers will be conducting RIDE checks throughout the district. These efforts are designed not only to detect and deter impaired drivers but also to reinforce the message that impaired driving is not acceptable, and puts everyone at risk.

In addition to enforcement, York Regional Police continues to educate the public about the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Our goal is simple: prevent collisions, save lives, and ensure our roads are safe for all users.
