Superintendent Blair Steer stands outside of #4 District headquarters

Superintendent Blair Steer has dedicated 24 years of service to York Regional Police, building a career defined by leadership, adaptability, and a strong commitment to both his colleagues and the community.

Over the course of his career, Superintendent Steer has gained extensive experience across a wide range of roles. He began in frontline uniform policing in 2 District, where he developed a strong foundation in community safety and response. From there, he expanded his expertise through specialized assignments in K9, Court Operations, and the Real Time Operations Center. His career also includes service in 3 District as well as contributions to Training and Education, where he played a role in shaping the next generation of officers.

This diverse background has given Superintendent Steer a well-rounded perspective on policing—one that combines operational experience with a deep understanding of teamwork, leadership, and continuous learning.

As the commander of his District, Superintendent Steer finds the most fulfillment in supporting the people around him. He is passionate about helping members of the service achieve their professional goals, whether through mentorship, guidance, or creating opportunities for growth. At the same time, he values building meaningful connections with the citizens of Vaughan, recognizing that trust and engagement are essential to effective policing.
