Police sat down with Deputy Chief Hogan to discuss his career and approach to policing.
Q: Why did you want to become a police officer?
A: It was a lifelong goal. I had family members in policing — my cousin and my uncle — who influenced me at a young age and showed me the importance of the profession. I was drawn to frontline policing and the opportunity to help people, address issues like bullying and make a positive difference in the community.
Q: You’ve been known to spend time on the road with officers. Is that something you continue to do?
A: Yes. Throughout my career, I have made it a priority to spend time in the field, often alongside Auxiliary officers. Frontline policing is what first inspired me to join the profession, and I continue to find value in being out in the community. It helps maintain a strong connection to the work being done and supports relationship-building with both officers and residents.
